Take a peek into a team's journey of vetting and curating science OER (Open Educational Resources) collections, as well as developing high quality lessons to align with NGSS. Emphasis will be on setting up structures to facilitate and frame this work, including professional learning with teacher-driven teams to build instructional capacity. We will also discuss how the OER collections are shared district-wide through professional learning experiences. Walk away with resources for OER development such as sample lesson templates, as well as completed examples of OER curriculum for Biology and Earth Science to use right away!

GUHSD’s OER framework and process is deeply rooted in the ideals of OER. The ultimate goal is to empower teachers to personalize student learning and meet the needs of their diverse population. The curated resources and lessons developed by our teacher teams empower students to connect with real world problems and solutions affecting their daily lives. Sharing and reusing open content gives all stakeholders the ability to engage in authentic, dynamic, and current learning experiences that support 21st Century skills.
